About EPL Feed

EPL Feed, LLC‘s team is dedicated to providing quality feeds, nutritional support and service to the agricultural community in the Pacific Northwest. With our on-staff nutritionists, production facilities in Sumas, Washington, and Othello, Washington, and a dedicated production and delivery team, we at EPL take seriously the role we play in the individual dairy producer’s success.

On December 1, 2011, Land O’Lakes, Inc. and the Elenbaas Company formed EPL Feed, LLC for the expressed purpose, as well as a shared commitment, to offer the region’s dairy producers the optimal mix of animal products and technologies. The underlying goal of EPL Feed, LLC is to provide optimum products and services to the dairy producers in the Pacific Northwest through innovative feed processing technologies, high-quality ingredients, advanced nutrition and a personal approach to customer service.

Meet Our Team

Deb Wilks, PhD, P.A.S. EPL Dairy Nutritionist/Consultant
Deb has worked as a Dairy Nutritionist since 1992 across the country including Texas, Michigan, Indiana, Kansas, Nebraska and in Washington and Oregon where she currently works. She is highly accredited having earned a BS in Animal Science, Masters of Science in Dairy Nutrition and PhD in Dairy Nutrition from Texas A&M University. She is also a member of the American Dairy Science Association (ADSA) and Professional Animal Scientists. In her spare time Deb can be found riding her horses in western events like team penning, sorting, drill team and mountain riding.
Dave Van VoorstPAS; Dairy/Animal Nutritionist Consultant
Originally from Iowa, Dave moved to Washington in 1987 to work for Elenbaas Co, Inc. as a nutritionist until 2011 when he joined EPL Feed, LLC. Dave works in conjunction with dairy specialists providing nutrition and management consulting with dairy producers. Dave has a BA in Animal Science and Agriculture Business from Dordt College, is a member of the Professional Animal Scientist Organization, and has received his Professional Animal Scientist certificate. He enjoys working with large to small dairies in nutrition and management consulting, and supports EPL Feeds’ sales team of Dairy Specialists.  Dave has served on the local FFA chapter in Lynden, WA, as well as acts as an advisor to the chapter.  He is also a Swine Leader in the Country Partners 4H Club. When not spending time with his wife and four children, Dave enjoys watching football and baseball.
Bill GarnettDairy Specialist, Eastern Washington
Bill has more than 39 years in the dairy industry, having worked as a herdsman for more than 12 years, and being a dairy specialist at EPL Feed for 27 years. He attended Yuba College majoring in PreVet and Nutrition. Bill enjoys setting and reaching goals with customers and coworkers, and working with cows. When he’s not working, Bill spends his time with his wife Debbie, his three grown children, and eight grandchildren.
Jeff HarrisDairy Specialist, Eastern Washington
Having been in the industry since 1981, Jeff joined EPL Feed in 2011. He received his BS in Ag Economics from Washington State University, and worked at Ralston Purina prior to joining EPL Feed.

Jeff credits customer satisfaction to EPL Feed being a smaller, local company with more flexibility, and putting customer needs in mind. When not working, Jeff can be found spending time with his two grown children, hiking, horseback riding, skiing and raising thoroughbred race horses on his fourth generation farm.

Les PetersenDairy Specialist, Western Washington
Les has more than 29 years of experience in dairy sales. Prior to joining EPL Feed in 2011, he worked at Elenbaas Company for 10 years. He received his AS in Horticulture from Boise State University. Les says he enjoys what he does because the company’s success relies on customer satisfaction. “It’s about the customer.”
Greg BoonDairy Specialist, Western Washington
Greg joined EPL feed in 2014 and works with dairymen helping them meet their feed-related needs. He understands dairy having been raised on dairy farms in Mount Vernon, and owning and operating a dairy with his wife for five years. Since graduating from Dordt College with a degree in Ag-Business, he has held several dairy management and outside sales positions throughout Washington. When not working, Greg can be found serving his church, being active on community boards, working around the house and yard (especially with a chainsaw!), and playing softball as the token “old guy” on the team.
Rod BierlinkDairy Specialist, Western Washington
No stranger to the dairy industry, Rod was raised on a dairy farm, participated in FFA in high school and has continued to be involved in agriculture. Rod has worked for EPL Feed and several of its partners including Elenbaas Company and Land O’Lakes, where he was a member of the Animal Milk Trail Blazers and received two National Circle of Achievement awards for sales and service. He and his wife of more than 31 years have 2 children and a small beef farm where they raise Limousin cattle. In his spare time he can be found golfing, hunting or fishing.
Kirsten HicksFormulator
Kirsten graduated from Washington State University in 2010 with a degree in Animal Sciences. Upon graduation she went to work in the formulation/nutrition side of the dairy industry and came to EPL Feed in January of 2013. Kirsten grew up on a purebred Limousin seedstock operation and continues to show and raise Limousin cattle today. She is very involved with Showmasters 4-H and is the current Junior Advisor for the Washington State Junior Limousin Association. When Kirsten isn’t boring you talking about cattle she can be found in your local crossfit gym selling tickets to her gun show 😉
Paul UnderwoodOthello Plant Manager
Paul has been with the company since high school when he worked in the feed department cleaning and unloading product. He has worked in several positions since he started and has been the Othello plant manager since 2010. When he’s not managing the plant, Paul can be found camping with his wife, getting his golf swing back, watching football and spending time with his granddaughter.
Bryan ReynoldsSumas Plant Manager
Bryan joined EPL Feed, LLC in 2011 and has been in the feed industry for more than 25 years. When he’s not working with other EPL team members, learning about the origin & nutritional ingredients used by EPL, communicating with the company’s different feed mills or talking with suppliers, Bryan can be found riding his Harley Davidson with his wife.
Fred VosQuality Assurance / Safety / Regulatory
Fred spent his first 34 years in the feed industry working for Elenbaas Company and then joined the EPL Feed, LLC team in 2011. Throughout his career in the industry he has contributed in many areas, including production and most recently has stepped into the role of HACCP Coordinator/Safety Manager. He works with the company’s plants overseeing quality, safety and environmental guidelines. His most recent project has been implementing a HACCP program for EPL. In his spare time Fred can be found tearing up the lanes with his bowling league, fishing or hunting.
Janelle MacDonaldOffice Manager
Janelle has worked in the feed industry since High School and joined EPL Feed in 2011. Janelle credits great customers and staff for making her job enjoyable. She has been married for more than 30 years, and can often be found on the soccer fields watching her grandkids play, or working in the yard.
Doug HoltOrders and Dispatch
Doug grew up in Whatcom County and graduated from Nooksack Valley High School.  He has worked in the feed industry for more than 30 years. Prior to joining EPL Feed in 2011, Doug worked at Elenbaas Company. When Doug isn’t scheduling production and coordinating trucks and drivers you can find him volunteering with Fire District 14, spending time with his wife and spoiling the grandkids!
Lee VanBeekCustomer Orders, Fleet Manager, Feed Labeling
Lee is a Whatcom County native that grew up working for various dairy farms in the area.  Lee attended Dordt College and has been employed in the feed industry at the same location for over 20 years. When not working, he likes to work on antique farm machinery, camp, and is involved at his church.
Karen VanDiestAccounts Receivable
Karen grew up in the Pacific Northwest and graduated from Nooksack High School, and later took additional classes at community college. After working in the banking industry in Seattle, Karen returned to Sumas and began her career in the feed industry in 1990 and joined EPL Feed in 2011. When she isn’t shuffling paper at EPL, you might find Karen baking unbelievable cookies.
Lisa BurtonAdministrative Assistant, Othello
Lisa has worked with EPL Feed or one of its partners for more than nine years. When she’s not talking to customers or working with the EPL team, Lisa can be found spending time with her grandsons or joy riding in her Mustang with her husband.
Angela PattersonReception
Angela spent time in Britain doing clerical work before moving to the United States and becoming a full time homemaker. She joined EPL Feed in 1990 where she was trained in the workings of the feed industry. When she is not answering phones, greeting visitors and doing administrative work she spends as much time as possible outdoors.
